History
Sidharth Malhotra was born on 16th January 1985, in Delhi, to a Punjabi family. His mother, Rimma Malhotra, is a homemaker and his father, Sunil, is a former captain of the Indian Merchant Navy. Sidharth completed his education at the Don Bosco School and Birla Vidya Niketan. He pursued higher education at the Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi. During college, he took up some modeling gigs to earn extra money. He took up modeling as a full-time career after being spotted by a model coordinator. He became a successful model and won the Mr. Gujarat pageant in 2007. But, after four successful years of modeling, he quit and pursued acting.
Acting Career
Sidharth Malhotra’s acting career started with a small role on a big television series, Dharti Ka Veer Yodha Prithviraj Chauhan, where he played the role of Jaichand. He realized his interest in acting and auditioned for a film by Anubhav Sinha, for which he got the role. However, the film was shelved. Sidharth then worked as an assistant director in Karan Johar’s My Name Is Khan in 2010. Then, in 2012, he debuted in Karan Johar’s film, Student of The Year alongside other debutants Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan. Following the success of this film, he was signed in the next film alongside Parineeti Chopra in Hasee Toh Phasee in 2014. His work in this flick was praised by many, especially the critics. He also starred in several other hits like Ek Villain in 2014 and Brothers in 2015, a remake of the Hollywood film. Sidharth underwent extensive martial arts training to prepare for his character in the movie. Some of his successful films include Kapoor & Sons, Marjavaan, Shershaah, and Yodha.
