History
Vijay Singh Deol, known by his stage name Bobby Deol, was born on 27th January 1969 in Mumbai. He hails from a family of Bollywood stars. His father is Dharmendra, one of the acclaimed actors of Bollywood, and his mother is Parkash Kaur. Bobby also has an older brother, Sunny Deol, and stepmother, Hema Malini. He also has half-sisters Ahana Deol and Eesha Deol. Bobby Deol did his schooling from Jamnabhai Narsee School in Mumbai and Mayo College in Ajmer. He pursued higher studies from Mithibai College in Mumbai.
Acting Career
Bobby Deol entered Bollywood as a child actor in a movie of his father, Dharam Veer, in 1977. His first debut film was Barsaat in 1995, starring opposite the gorgeous Twinkle Khanna. The film was a success at the box office, and Bobby won his first award for Best Male Actor Debut. His breakthrough performance was in Gupt: The Hidden Truth with co-stars Kajol and Manisha Koirala. This movie became one of the most successful ones in the year 1997. Bobby then starred in several more thriller flicks like Ajnaabee, Humraaz and the action films like Badal and Soldier.
Deol took a break from acting and came back in 2004 with various hits like Kismet, Bardaasht, and Jurm. He was also in the film Ab Tumhare Hawale Watan Saathiyo, which had an ensemble cast such as Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar, but the film didn’t do well at the theatre. However, Bobby was praised for his role in the film. His subsequent films include Naqaab, Jhoom Barabar Jhoom, Chamku, Ek: The Power of One, Players, and Poster Boys. He joined his brother, Sunny Deol, and father, Dharmendra, for the films Apne and Yamla Pagla Deewana. He moved to OTT platforms for the series Aashram and the films Class of ’83 and Love Hostel.
