Day 1, Pratipada (29th September 2019): The commencement of the Navratri festival begins by worshipping Goddess Shailputri. The Goddess Parvati, the daughter of the king of Himavan Mountains, is also known as “Shailputri”. The Goddess holds the collective power of Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh and is worshipped as a consort to Lord Shiva.

Day 2, Dwitya (30th September 2019): The second day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Brahmacharini who holds a “Kumbha” in one hand and a rosary in the other. She is believed to be the storehouse of wisdom and knowledge. Worshipping her devotionally will shower peace, happiness, success, and knowledge, and opens the way to Moksha or salvation for the devotees.

Day 3, Tritiya (1st October 2019): Goddess Chandraghanta is the third avatar of Goddess Durga who rides on a tiger, has ten hands, and three eyes. Her eight hands hold weapons and the remaining two shower blessings and stops harm. The Goddess signifies grace and beauty, and showers ultimate bliss, peace, success, and knowledge on the devotees. The weapons in her hand represent bravery and great strength.

Day 4, Chaturthi (2nd October 2019): The fourth night of Navratri commences with the worshipping of Goddess Kushmanda who is believed to be the creator of the universe. Emanating a bright aura, she has eight arms holding weapons and a rosary and manifests cosmic knowledge in the human race. It is also believed that she created the universe with a spell of laughter and greenery.

Day 5, Panchami (3rd October 2019): Goddess Skandamta is worshipped on the fifth day of Navratri. She is the mother of Karthikeya, who was elected as the commander-in-chief of Gods in the battle against the demons. The Goddess showers wisdom and knowledge on her devotees.

Day 6, Shasthi (4th October 2019): The sixth day of Navratri is dedicated to the Goddess Katyayani. She is the sixth avatar of Goddess Durga born to the great sage, Kata. She is a demonstrator of courage.

Day 7, Saptami (5th October 2019):  Maa Kalaratri is the seventh form of Goddess Durga who is a destroyer of ignorance and darkness. The Goddess has a dark skin tone and disheveled hair along with a courageous posture which together make her the fiercest form of the Goddess Durga.

Day 8, Ashtami (6th October 2019): The eighth night of Navratri Puja observes people worshipping Goddess Mahagauri and often performing Kanya Pujan in homes. The Goddess is believed to bless her devotees with compassion and peace.

Day 9, Ram Navmi (7th October 2019): People worship Maa Siddhidatri on the ninth day of Navratri with great devotion. The Goddess is believed to be the possessor of 26 different wishes which she grants to her devotees. People also perform Kanya Pujan on this auspicious day to seek Her blessings.
