Deepawali, “Deep + Avali” means rows of earthen lamps, is an ancient Hindu celebration observed in autumn or the Kartik month as per Hindu calendar every year. Spiritually, the celebration signifies the victory of good over evil or the victory of light over darkness. The preparations, rituals and traditions generally extend over a period of five days; however the main celebration the night of Diwali falls on the darkest, the new moon night of the month Kartik. As per Gregorian calendar the festival falls between October and November.
